Mary Otis

MARY OTIS is the author of the short-story collection. Yes, Yes, Cherries. Her stories and essays have been published in Best New American Voices (Harcourt), Electric Literature, Tin House, Zyzzyva, McSweeney’s, Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Review of Books Special Fiction Issue, and in numerous other venues. Her writing is anthologized in Woof: Fiction Writers on Dogs (Viking) and Do Me: Tales of Love and Sex (Tin House). Her story "Pilgrim Girl" received an Honorable Mention for the Pushcart Prize, and her story "Unstruck" was a Distinguished Story of the Year in Best American Short Stories. Originally from Boston, she attended Bennington College. She was a Creative Writing Professor at UCLA Extension from 2003 to 2008, and is currently a fiction professor in the UC Riverside Low-Residency M.F.A. Program.
