Lawrence Evan Dotson

Lawrence Evan Dotson is a Los Angeles native. In 1991 he graduated from the UCLA School of Theater. Shortly thereafter, he started a career as a hip-hop journalist through 2003, and wrote under the moniker Loupy D. He earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree in Creative Writing from Antioch University Los Angeles in 2015, after submitting a draft of his memoir about growing up in post-Civil Rights Era Los Angeles, and his experiences during and after the 1992 riots. He's published an academic article, “Persona in Progression: A Look At Creative Nonfiction Literature In Civil Rights and Rap,” in Assay: A Journal of Nonfiction Studies.
